TNPSC photograph and signature at a glance
Candidates for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission recruitments register through the commission’s One Time Registration system, which keeps a photograph and a signature on your profile. Later, each recruitment application pulls those images from the profile. The table lists the starting values used here.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 20 to 50 KB | 150 × 200 px | A recent colour photo against a plain light background |
| Signature | 10 to 30 KB | 150 × 100 px | Your usual signature in dark ink on white paper |
The numbers quoted for TNPSC differ between websites and between years, which is why every figure here can be edited. Please read the instructions on your own registration page. If they differ, open Customise and type in the correct width, height and KB limits.
Which TNPSC candidates this helps
The same two images are used across the commission’s combined exams: Group 1, Group 2 and 2A, Group 3A, Group 4 and the departmental and technical recruitments. Once your profile is complete you can apply to several of them without uploading again, so it is worth getting the photograph and signature right the first time.
If you are updating an older profile, prepare a fresh photograph, because the commission expects the picture to look like you today.
Compressing your files from start to finish
- Start with the photo. Upload a clear portrait and centre your face in the crop frame.
- Check the chips. Wait for the size and dimensions chips to turn green.
- Download it. The JPG is saved with the exam name, so it is easy to find in your gallery.
- Switch to Signature. Upload a photo of your signature on white paper and crop close around the ink.
- Save both. Use the ZIP button if you want the pair in a single download.
Getting the TNPSC photograph right
Face a window so natural light falls evenly on your face, and stand in front of a plain, light wall. Keep your head straight and look at the lens.
- Recent and plain. Avoid old pictures, group photos and cropped selfies.
- Face fully visible. Remove sunglasses and hats, and keep hair off your eyes.
- No filters. Beauty effects can make a face look different from your identity proof.
- Clean the backdrop. If the wall is busy, the background remover can make it white first.
How the compression works
Photographs from a modern phone are often several megabytes, far above a form’s limit. The tool first scales the picture to the pixel size, then searches for the highest JPEG quality that stays under your target. Only when that is not enough does it reduce the quality further. You always see the final size before you download.
Choose Within range for a safe file just under the limit, or Exactly if the page wants a specific number. Leave the target empty if the form has no limit at all.
Making a clean signature image
Use a dark blue or black pen on plain white paper and sign the way you do on official papers. Photograph the page flat, from straight above, in good light. Crop close around the ink and leave ink clean-up on, so the paper turns white and thin strokes stay legible even at a small file size.
Common reasons TNPSC uploads fail
- The file is larger or smaller than the allowed KB range.
- The image was stretched to fit instead of being cropped.
- The photograph is dark, blurred or has a patterned background.
- The signature is faint, on lined paper or in a different style from your records.
- The file is not a real JPEG, for instance a renamed screenshot.
Staying private while you prepare files
Everything runs on your device, so your photograph and signature are never sent to our servers. When a file is ready you can download it, collect both in a ZIP, or use Share to hand the image and a link to this page to another phone. Delete shared copies from chats afterwards.
