BPSC signatures at a glance
The Bihar Public Service Commission uses an online application in which you provide your signature twice, once in English and once in Hindi. Each file is expected to be a small JPG, with the limit commonly quoted as under 20 KB. The table shows the starting values used by this tool. The pixel size is our own default, since the notices mostly speak about file size.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Signature (English) | 5 to 20 KB | 200 × 80 px | Your signature written in English, dark ink on white paper |
| Signature (Hindi) | 5 to 20 KB | 200 × 80 px | Your signature written in Hindi, dark ink on white paper |
As ever, compare these numbers with your own advertisement. If the limits differ, enter them in the Customise section and the live check will follow.
The photograph is taken live, not uploaded
Recent BPSC forms capture your photograph through your device’s camera while you fill in the application, instead of asking for a file. That means there is nothing to resize for the photo, and an old picture from your gallery will not work. What you can do is prepare the conditions: sit facing a window or a bright lamp, use a plain wall behind you, keep the camera at eye level and look straight into it.
If your particular form still asks for an uploaded photograph, open the passport photo tool or the image resizer and set the sizes from your notice.
Preparing both signatures
- English signature. Sign on plain white paper in dark ink, photograph the page from straight above and upload it on the English tab.
- Crop close. Keep a thin margin around the ink and nothing else.
- Check the chips. Wait for the size chip to turn green and download the file.
- Hindi signature. Switch to the Hindi tab and repeat with your signature written in Devanagari.
- Keep both. The ZIP button saves the two files together, already named so they cannot be confused.
Making clean English and Hindi signatures
Use a dark blue or black pen, because pale ink fades when a file is compressed. Place the paper on a flat table, avoid shadows from your hand or phone and photograph from directly above.
- Write at a natural size. Very small writing becomes unreadable when the file is shrunk.
- Use your usual style. The English and Hindi versions should look like how you actually sign.
- Keep the paper plain. Lines and borders make a signature look cluttered.
- Turn on ink clean-up. It brightens the paper and deepens the strokes.
Getting a Hindi signature to look right
Devanagari has a continuous top line and small marks above and below the letters, and these are exactly the details that vanish in an over-compressed picture. For that reason it helps to write a little larger than you would in English and to keep the pen pressure even. If the preview shows broken strokes, raise the ink strength slider a little and make sure the file is not being squeezed past the point where the marks stay visible.
Common reasons BPSC uploads fail
- The file is larger than the allowed KB limit.
- The English and Hindi signatures were uploaded in each other’s slots.
- The signature is faint, blurred or photographed in poor light.
- The file is not a JPEG, or has a changed extension.
- The paper is lined, or other writing appears in the frame.
Staying private while you prepare files
Everything is processed inside your browser, so your signatures are never sent to our servers. When a file is ready you can download it, collect both in a ZIP, or use Share to pass the image and a link to this page to another phone. Delete shared copies from chats afterwards.
